The Littlest Love Letter

Er - blame Girls Aloud for this.

DRAMA! Will anybody work out the 'sting in the tail' of my poem? Stay tuned to the comments section to find out!

The Littlest Love Letter

I saw you turn your head away on the street.

The bubbles of laughter worked their way

Rhythmically to the surface, the ground seemingly no match

For your feet, as you tottered and bounced with mirth.

Wind tossing your hair everywhere as though it were

Handfuls of cocoa powder exploding about your cheeks –

For you were long gone into the minute private sphere

Of your feverishly-active imagination; hopeful

Gaze recording an entirely separate vision

To the bemused strollers fading tonelessly away

Beside you, deep jade showing here and there,

Against your almond-milk face as it hid amongst your hair –

Such vocal eyes you had! The pebbled glint of curiosity

Speaks from them; not a hint of malice, but the black

Fringing of your lashes suggested childishness

As you giggled, and the fading pink of your mouth

Seemed to touch your cheeks, and I wanted to kiss you,

I wanted to fold my arms around the body

That seemed so much smaller and more graceful

When seen in his eyes than when I saw it,

Loaded with conflict, in the mirror each day.
