Total Politics Blog Poll 2009...

I voted in it! You can too! Here's the rules:

1. You must vote for your ten favourite blogs and rank them from 1 (your favourite) to 10 (your tenth favourite).
2. Your votes must be ranked from 1 to 10. Any votes which do not have rankings will not be counted.
3. You MUST include ten blogs. If you include fewer than ten your vote will not count.
2. Email your vote to toptenblogs@totalpolitics.com
3. Only vote once.
4. Only blogs based in the UK, run by UK residents are eligible or based on UK politics are eligible.
5. Anonymous votes left in the comments will not count. You must give a name
6. All votes must be received by midnight on 31 July 2009. Any votes received after that date will not count.

I thought I couldn't muster 10 blogs, but I managed 8 right off the bat, cranked dem rusty cogs in my brain some more and voila!

Shatellyouwhoahvotedfor? Oh, go on then:

A Very Public Sociologist, Back Towards The Locus, Feminazery, Heresy Corner, Liberal Conspiracy, Penny Red, Pickled Politics, The Daily Quail, The F-Word and Too Much To Say For Myself (Cath Elliott).

EDIT: I have been forced to replace some of the blogs I voted for, because I didn't know that a couple have pulled out. Ah well...

Not necessarily in that (alphabetical) order, mind. God I knew those librarian skills would come in useful someday!

I was briefly tempted to nominate myself, then I thought 'Oh good Lord, what the hell is wrong with you?' and normal service was resumed.

If you have votes, please join in this disgusterous populist right-wing-powered (Iain Dale? Though LabourList and LibDemVoice are promoting/sponsoring) 'my blogz r bettar than urz' fest and VOTE UP SOME AWESOME LEFTYFIED BLOGS.

And yes, I have been at the banoffee pie. G'nite!

You can see that some of the blogs of your choice want no part in the "awards"- very long & drawn our reasons as to why but it revolves around not wanting to gratify Iain Fale's ego.

Accordingly you'll have to revise your choices a bit.

See in the comments that the usual fucking turds are winning- I don't so much object to their right-wing views as to what total mediocrities they actually are in terms of their thinking & writing, but I suppose they don't mind if they are popular.

Usual libertarian tossers voting for each other too- glad to see you getting Heresy Corner in the votes.

Might I make some suggestions as to what you'll replace them missing blogs with:

http://ministryoftruth.me.uk
http://theappallingstrangeness.blogspot.com/ (by a long way my favourite libertarian)
http://shirazsocialist.wordpress.com/
http://cabalamat.wordpress.com/
http://bleedingheartshow.wordpress.com/

Also I must put ina special word for the greatest blog of all time, http://dry-valleys.livejournal.com (ok, not serious!)

All right good blogs- I'd also recommend, while I'm at it, Eunomia (though that can't be on the list because it's an American blog).

Link, sorry:

It hasn't been published yet but you can see Sunny doesn't want to take part in the circus.

Them blogs are worth looking at anyway :)

Pickled Politics, Liberal Conspiracy, Enemies of Reason and others aren't taking part.

Sorry.

Well, thanks for the heads-up, y'all!

Haha, thank you! Those are excellent suggestions - I had such a memory fail, but that happens when one is tired and posting at midnight.

So YOU'RE 'david cameron's forehead'! Haha.

Yes, I presumed that you don't read anything not on your blogroll.

I do a bit of twittering as well- username asquith. I think some twitterers are fairly worthless, but I hope I do a good job serving up a lethal dose of links!

Well, I DO read stuff not on my blogroll, just not as regularly. Ministry of Truth and Bleeding Heart Show are vey awesome.

Cabalamat is also good, as is septicisle (who I inexplicably confuse him with sometimes - why?!). I should have been really obvious and voted for Bad Science and more of the other excel science blogs, like Pharyngula!

Goddammit.

asquith said...

I'm big into Pharyngula myself. Only I think he is ineligible because he doesn't have a British connection- worrabout freethinker.co.uk?

KJB said...

You, sir, are a rapid respondent.

I don't use Twitter, because I am simply too fundamentally unpopular/impossibly busy/lazy and technologically-illiterate (delete as appropriate) to cope with it.

I like freethinker.co.uk also, but some of the stories on it are fricking terrifying. Like all the ones about parents letting their kids die in the name of religion.

I can't hack anything like that daily!

Aww, thank you.

*Has only just seen this*

Naturally, the antics of that obscure Conservative pass me by, but it's touching to be mentioned.

Ben -

As some famous person might say, nobody REALLY gives two shits what Iain Dale does, but Iain Dale.

We all seem to find ourselves caught up in his fawn-fest though, because we are too nice and busy and important to make our own. Except I, of course, I am too tragically unpopular to be part of a poll I don't care about anyway.

So, erm, yeah... You're welcome, good blog, etc. etc.
